Vinyl Window Types and Prices
Vinyl frames are PVC with ultraviolet stabilizers added so sunlight doesn't break the material down, the Department of Energy explains. HomeGuide's style table shows how far the price moves with the shape of the window.

Impact vinyl windows
A hurricane-rated vinyl window runs $400 to $1,100 installed in HomeGuide's table. Size is the limit to watch: Fixr's Florida guide says vinyl needs reinforcement for large hurricane-rated openings, and the aluminum windows page compares the two frames for big openings.

Vinyl casement windows
HomeGuide puts vinyl casements at $300 to $1,400 installed. The crank-out sash is covered in full on the casement windows page.

Vinyl picture windows
A fixed vinyl window is the cheapest style in HomeGuide's table, $200 to $900 installed. Large panes have their own glass rules; see picture windows.

Vinyl bay windows
Bays are the top of the vinyl range at $700 to $3,500 installed. More on bay and bow assemblies on the bay windows page.

Multi-chamber and insulated vinyl frames
The inside of a vinyl frame is hollow, divided into air chambers. HomeGuide says more chambers insulate better but cost more to make. The Department of Energy adds that those cavities can be filled with insulation, which makes the frame perform better than standard vinyl or wood.

Why Pompano Beach homeowners call Pompano Windows
- One independent installer calls back, not a list of five
- The request costs you nothing
- Ask for approval numbers and design pressures on the quote
- Permit, removal and stucco patching priced in writing
Vinyl Window Upkeep and Limits
No painting needed. The Department of Energy notes vinyl frames don't need painting and resist moisture. HomeGuide warns that painting them anyway can void the warranty, so pick the color at order time.
Color choice is narrower. HomeGuide lists limited colors and designs among vinyl's drawbacks.
Heat and quality. Lower-quality vinyl may warp or crack in extreme temperatures, HomeGuide says, and vinyl frames aren't easy to repair.
Lifespan estimates differ. HomeGuide's national figure is 20 to 40 years or more; Fixr's Florida figure is lower, at 15 to 25. For price, strength and lifespan side by side with aluminum, see aluminum vs vinyl.
What a Vinyl Window Quote Should Show
Approval per unit. Each window should be an approved, labeled HVHZ unit, with its design pressure listed.
Glass spec. Ask for the SHGC of each unit; replacement glass here has to meet the 0.25 SHGC limit.
Removal and disposal. HomeGuide says taking away old windows can add $50 to $200 or more per window, and some contractors list it separately.
Frame damage found on removal. HomeGuide puts vinyl frame repair at $150 to $400 on average and notes that hidden structural damage can add repairs during a replacement; ask how the quote handles it.
Several windows at once. HomeGuide says contractors often lower the per-window price when they install several together, so price the whole set before splitting the job.
Permit and deposit. Every window swap needs a city permit; before paying a large share up front, ask about the deposit rule.
