Sliding Glass Door Repair Types and What They Cost
Most slider problems come down to five parts: the rollers under each panel, the track they ride on, the panel's alignment in the frame, the hardware and seals, and the glass itself. HomeGuide's 2026 figures for each are below.

Roller Replacement
Rollers sit in the bottom rail of each panel. When their wheels flatten or their bearings seize, the door grinds, jumps or takes two hands to open. Swapping them is the most common slider repair and one of the quickest.
- Roller repair or replacement: $75 to $250
- Time: about 30 minutes to an hour

Track Repair and Replacement
New rollers won't run smoothly on a bent or worn track. A track that has only shifted can be realigned. A flattened or cracked rail has to be replaced.
- Track realignment: $80 to $200
- Track replacement: $200 to $450

Panel Realignment and Frame Repair
A panel that has dropped or racked leaves a gap at the lock stile, won't latch and lets in wind-driven rain. Roller height is the first thing to check; a bent or corroded frame is a bigger job.
- Door realignment: $100 to $300
- Door frame repair: $250 to $850 or more

Locks, Handles and Weatherstripping
A latch that won't catch is a security problem as well as a nuisance. Worn weatherstripping lets in air and water. These are small parts, but the visit fee still applies.
- Handle repair or replacement: $50 to $200
- Lock repair or replacement: $50 to $300
- Weatherstripping replacement: $60 to $250

Slider Glass Replacement
Cracked glass, or fog trapped between the panes of an insulated panel, means new glass or a new panel. Florida code counts all glass in a sliding door as a hazardous location, so the new glass has to be safety glazing. On an impact door, ask whether the new glass matches what the door's product approval lists.
- Foggy or damaged glass: $300 to $1,200 or more per panel, installed
- Impact glass: $500 to $3,000, materials only
- Low-E glass: $200 to $750 or more, materials only

Why Pompano Beach homeowners call Pompano Windows
- One independent installer calls back, not a list of five
- The request costs you nothing
- Ask for approval numbers and design pressures on the quote
- Permit, removal and stucco patching priced in writing
Repairing an Impact Slider
In Broward, sliding doors are tested and labeled to TAS 202, the HVHZ air, water and pressure test, as complete units. A product approval describes the door as tested. One Miami-Dade approval for an impact window names the specific laminated-glass interlayers its glass is built with, and says the approval terminates if the materials change. That makes parts on an impact slider a question to ask, not assume:
Glass
Will the new panel or insulated unit match the glass makeup in the door's approval?Rollers and hardware
Are they the maker's parts for that series, or generic ones?Label
Is the door's approval label still readable? Note the approval number before work starts.
Sliding Door Repair Costs Beyond the Parts
The part is often the smaller share of the bill. HomeGuide's figures for the rest:
Labor
$50 to $150 an hour, depending on location. Some techs charge more for the first hour.Diagnostic visit
$75 to $150 at some companies, often waived if you approve the repair.Minimum job fee
Typically $100 to $250, however small the fix. After hours
A call-out outside normal hours usually costs extra, $100 to $300 or more in the same guide.
Ask for the visit fee and the minimum charge before the tech comes out. If the door needs rollers and a track, ask for both on one quote.
When a Repair Stops Making Sense
HomeGuide suggests replacing the door once repairs would cost more than half the price of a new one, which it puts at $1,200 to $4,000 or more. A frame bent out of square or a door that keeps leaking after new seals usually points that way. A new exterior door in Pompano Beach goes through a city permit. Sliding glass doors also count as openings on the state's wind mitigation form, so an unprotected slider can lower how the whole house is graded.
